| Active Stats allows you to monitor your web traffic in real time via a Win32 MFC application that interacts with a set of CGI or PHP scripts. Once installed, you can simply insert code snippets into your pages and the program will allow you to monitor the pages in real-time. It can alert you as soon as a visitor enters a tagged page and even allows you to participate in a chat with the visitor. The Windows interface also displays detailed statistics on the visitor, including referrer data, browser information and more. The software provides the same functionality as some service based products, however it only requires a one-time fee and no monthly costs. Active Stats requires no scripting, but you should be familiar with basic web server and site operation in order to set it up.
