| TrustWatch is a toolbar for Internet Explorer, that lets consumers know if the web site they are visiting has been verified by a Trusted Third Party authority, like GeoTrust, Verisign, TRUSTe and others, or if it is contained in a blacklist of known sites. Most sites we visited during the review showed a "Not verified" which means neither good, nor bad. The verification is based on payment of a fee by the site owner. We tested it with a couple real phishing scams from our ever growing spam collection, and unfortunately the toolbar only gave the same "Not verified", which you will see most of the time. A good concept, but not (yet) reliable enough to be considered a serious measure to avoid online scams.
